Precision and Efficiency Redefined in Aluminum Coil Slitting Technology

In modern industrial manufacturing, the demand for high-precision metal processing equipment continues to grow, particularly in sectors such as new energy, precision packaging, and electronic materials. The aluminum coil slitting line plays an essential role in transforming wide-width metal coils into narrow strips with tight tolerances and flawless edges, meeting stringent requirements for downstream applications.

A high-speed precision automatic slitting line typically consists of several integrated modules, including an unwinding machine, lead edge shear and feeder, leveling system, loop bridge, side guiding unit, slitting machine, tension station, and dual winders. Designed to handle materials ranging from 1.5mm to 8.0mm in thickness and up to 800mm in width, the system supports maximum coil weights of 20 metric tons. It is capable of slitting thicker materials (3.1–8.0mm) into up to 16 strips, and can process up to 20 strips for thinner gauges (1.5–3.0mm).

The slitting process begins with the unwinder, which uses a hydraulic expansion system and pneumatic braking to ensure steady feeding. The incoming material then passes through a pinch-leveler that flattens and straightens the coil, followed by a hydraulic shear that trims the lead edge. A looping bridge provides buffer storage to synchronize line speed between uncoiling and recoiling sections.

Critical to performance is the slitting machine, which employs adjustable rotary blades and spacers to achieve clean, burr-free cuts. Downstream, a tension stand maintains uniform strip tension, while the rewinder uses a dual-shaft design with automatic unloading for continuous production. Driven by industrial-grade motors and controlled via PLC and sensors, the line supports daily output of 80–300 tons.

Applications span lithium battery electrode foils, stainless steel precision strips, packaging materials, and common cold- or hot-rolled steel. With its emphasis on precision, automation, and adaptability, today’s aluminum slitting lines are indispensable in high-value manufacturing industries where accuracy and efficiency cannot be compromised.
