Revamping Existing Line To Double Slitting Heads For Indian Client

An Indian customer purchased a slitting line from LMS Slitting Line over 10 years ago for cutting metal coils with a width of 1300 mm and a thickness of up to 2 mm. By 2025, due to expanding business and increased demand, the client requested an upgrade of the existing single head slitting line to a double slitter slitting line.

In response, the engineering team at LMS Machinery has conducted a comprehensive technical assessment and formulated a cost-effective, practical revamping strategy designed to maximize the value of the existing installation.

LMS Machinery engineers proposed a practical revamping solution. This solution integrates a new uncoiler, pinch roller and chopper, guiding device, and new double slitters into the existing scrap rewinder, tension station and recoiler:

1.  New Uncoiling System: Installation of a high-performance uncoiler to ensure stable and efficient feeding of the master coil, improving overall line reliability and setup speed.
2.  Enhanced Material Handling: Upgrading the pinch roll and chopper unit to provide more precise material control , crucial for maintaining line speed .
3.  Precision Guiding System: Integration of an advanced guiding device to ensure absolute strip alignment accuracy before entering the slitting section, which is critical for producing high-quality slit edges in a dual-stream operation.
4.  Double Slitter Upgrade:This new unit will be seamlessly incorporated into the existing tension station framework. Importantly, the proven existing recoiler will be retained and integrated with the new system, protecting the client's prior investment.

Finally, a new control cabinet and system will be installed to fully integrate the new equipment with the existing line, ensuring cohesive operation and enhanced control capability.
